Bend it like Beckham

This is the first time seeing a live soccer game. Ever since David Beckham has signed up with LA Galaxy, my friend has been asking if we should go to LA to watch the game. We are not a big fans of his, but we consider that as our chance to see some "real" soccer (as most US players are not as good).

We found that LA Galaxy is going to play against our local team, San Jose Earthquakes in June. We decided to get the tickets from KFC Promotion as regular price ticket is a bit expensive. BTW, we got the largest crowd of SJE history, I bet half of the crowd are Beckham fans.

We got there early enough to catch the warm up. It's was so funny that I'm the only one who can spot Beckham from a far. Is he that hard to recognize without his special haircut? Oh ... speaking of haircut, I saw a kid with his famous "chicken cut" and wearing his jersey at the front. See how influential he is?

Some kids were playing in the field during halftime. Oh my god, they were the cutest thing. They were like the miniature toy figure running around the field. They were playing some serious soccer down there as you can see them kicking and knocking people down. Their game was much better than the actual game of the night. Everyone in the crowd were for them.


The game itself was just so-so. The players are really not as good as the other countries. They are not at the international level yet. They really need to take time to practice to sharpen up their skill. They really need to learn from the "international" player on how to lead and set the game to the next level. No doubt on Beckham's skills set, he is still able to perfectly bend the ball the way it should be so that his team can take up the attack, but the game/the players couldn't bring out the best in him. I would love to see him and Landon Donovan partner up, the spark should fly around the stadium. Let's hope both of them will be playing in the match in August

Speaking of which, we really got to see the ticks that the players does in the game. We got to see a "real dive". We were siting at the back so we were able to see the whole diving action. He was really just dropping himself down on the ground and put his feet up. Another one that I saw was the best one. He "fell" down and "claimed" that his elbow got hurt (maybe bumped into the side advertisement board). He actually "rolled" himself back into the field and just dropped dead. Since everyone were in the other side of the field, so no one paid attention to him. So he got up and walked a few steps and he dropped dead again because the action has died down on the other side. The goal keeper finally called on the referee to check on him. They were really "eye-opening" tricks that you won't see on TV.

Ms. S又再提議去Sonoma那邊的薰衣草園。 自從上年去完Modesto那邊的Lavender Hollow Farm，Ms. S就對薰衣草園念念不忘。 Sonoma那邊自說他們的農莊有五畝之大，令我們瑕想可以看見一片紫色花海。 惟憾的是，他們的薰衣草只開了20%。 如果他們把開放時間推遲一個星期的話，我們應該可以看到可令我們難以忘記的景像。 全因為他們是一個“商業農莊“，所以他們要在薰衣草原全開撻之前把它們採割下來方可保存薰衣草上的紫色。

聽他們的“莊主"說，薰衣草好像是一門“少本生意“。原因是薰衣草本身是一種很“粗生粗養“的植物。 牠們不需要很肥沃的土壤和很多水份。只要把溫度為持在７５度華氏，７至８天淋水一次便可。 一般的薰衣草的生命力有８至１２年。 只要用牠門的幹來“變種“成幼苗便可補種在泥土上。

全因為只有少量的花盛開，所以我們都沒什麼興志影相。我們改為主攻他們的“食物“。 我們嘗試了他們的"薰衣草熱狗“和“薰衣草燒雞飽“配“薰衣草凱撒沙拉“。 還試了“薰衣草草莓雪糕"和“薰衣草蜜桃雪糕“。
