Giving in

Before the LV trip, I was convinced that I won't be doing any after Christmas shopping this year. Mostly because there are nothing interested based on my favorite stores website, plus I'm broke after thanksgiving and Christmas trip.

The other day, I was browsing through the website and saw 2 people wearing a pullover from my favorite store and they look so good in it >.<. So I went to the site and check out their pullover out of curiousity. Man, I was hooked to one/two items, but they are really expensive so my idea of getting them has been dropped.

During my stay in LV, tons of people were holding a BIG shopping bag from that store (which made me think that there was a big sale). Man, it was very tempting. Glad that I didn't have much time to go shop before 25th, else I would have gotten something, I believe. (PS: I should have gone to the store in LV, not to buy anything, but to spot someone. I have a feeling that someone could have gone to the store during her stay in LV .. hahaha)

When I came back home, my good friend told me that the pull over was on sale. After deep strugling, I have decided to go check it out (plus I want to look for a belt for my new outfit). I spotted the pull over, tried it on, and the next thing I knew, I'm paying for it (along w/ other tees which I think I'll return them).

I'm guessing it's tradition that at least I get 1-2 items from that shop every yr during after christmas shopping and I shouldn't break the tradition. hahhaha

值得一讚是它的traffic alert,塞車時可讓你view traffic details or detour around the problem area.

It's good that Aladdin is walking distance to Paris, Bellagio, Caesars. hahaha

hahaha)

The overall experience for this trip is very impressive. My experience on the gambling table has grown alot after the big win (hahaha). Everyone got to see a show in LV (w/ not so bad seating). I have seen lots of Asian singers' concert related promo in LV everywhere (billboard, display, video on hotel billboard sign on the strip, etc) (PS: Caesars ticketing center has Jacky Cheung's concert info ^^). I can't wait to see some Asian faces up on the major American stage. Asian Rocks, BABY!!! Aza Aza fighting!!

IS function.

Part 1

12/23/2006
05:00Departed Bay Area
07:00Breakfast @ McDonald's. Many people stopped at this McDonald's for Breakfast.
08:33foggy weather on I-5
picture taken @ 80mph
13:15Arrived @ LV. Dim Sum @ Chinatown. After lunch, we saw
by Chinatown
15:00Check in @ Aladdin. We handed the stack of driver's license, credit card, "Jackson", player's club card to the clerk. The clerk is around late 20's - 30's and he placed our "cards" on the table. We asked for complementary upgrade. The clerk said he'll see what he can do. When he was typing on his computer, I noticed that the stack of cards are gone. After a while, he asked if we want a bigger room or a room with a view. We have decided to go for the one with a view. So we ended up on 29th floor facing the Bellagio fountain.

17:30We headed to Spice Market (@ Aladdin) for dinner. We waited for 45 mins at the casino level, and another 15-20 mins in the basement. They have a wide selection of food choices. The food is great (but too much MSG ) The dessert choice is my favorite.
21:00We walked over to Bellagio to picked up O tickets for my parents and we saw
by the ticket counter.
22:00Headed over to Luxor for first night of luck. Played for 2 hrs and won $2.5

Part 2

12/24/2006
10:00Walked over to Paris for 2nd round of luck, won $20.
14:30I headed over to the buffet line at Paris and waited for a hr.
This is the buffet line @ 15:00. The food at Paris is good (as least not as much MSG as Aladdin). The crab leg @ Paris is much better than Aladdin. My favorite, the crepes. We asked for plain crepes and put ice-cream in it. We told ourselves that we should get more crepes because the little crepe shop outside of the buffet is selling for $7 each. haha
18:00We headed over to Caesars Palace to check things out. We were trying to spot some Korean girls , but we end up taking pics of
18:30The table @ Caesars to too expensive to kill time with. So we end up heading to Flamingo and found a mini-table. The game rule is the same, just that you get 6 cards instead of 7 cards.
19:15We went back to Caesars for the concert. The door had opened and we had to get through security with metal detector . The security took away our camera because no cameras are allowed , and they gave out
as complementation . The merchandise line was ridiculously crowed. Luckily that I wasn't planning to get anything.
20:00We were seated and waiting for the show to starts. All of a sudden we heard people screaming in the lower level. We all bended over to look and saw people screaming and rushing to a row in the section right below us. It looks like it's some Korean celebrity. It turns out he's his hyung from Korea Giordano - Jang Dong Gun (張東健) .(Wondering if they are wearing Giordano clothing at the moment ). The show started right after JDG seated. Here is a short clip of the concert opening. (credit to aznswtgrl7 @ youtube)
22:00The show is over and we are nearly deaf. The girls are screaming their lungs out throughout the 2 full hrs. We decided to go back to Flamingo for more fun.

Part 3

12/25/2006

10:00I headed down to the casino and saw that they are gambling. I was watching their game and then the idea of window shopping strike through. I headed to the mall in Aladdin and ended up doing some (pre)after Christmas shopping.
14:30Lunch @ Satay Malaysian Grille. Food is decent.
15:30Checked out Wynn.
18:30Dinner @ Korean Tofu House on Spring Mountain Blvd. Had to be a Korean in one of the night hahaha
20:00Casino night @ Aladdin. This is the night where I kept getting straight, flush, and full house. YEAH BABY!!! I end up making $107 profit off the table. Woo-hoo!! (too bad, I was playing for my dad)

12/26/2006
10:00Bye bye Vegas. I'm coming, LA.
15:00Leaving LA. Heading home, finally
20:30Dinner @ Cousin Cafe in Dublin/Pleasanton. I think the food is similar to the one in Newark. Not too bad.
21:30Arrived home. It was raining really hard after dinner. We were joking that we brought rain with us from LV. haha

Cinderella?

I have been continuously watching TV drama recently and boy, most of them are "Cinderella" story type drama. There are only 2 endings in this kind of drama -

1) happy ending (they overcome their hardship and live happily ever after)
2) sad ending (1 (or both) of the main character dies at the end)

One of the drama that I watched really got me by surprise on the ending (although it's a happy ending, but really got me to do some thinking).

When everyone in the world goes against your action, what motivates you so that you do not give up on hope? Is it really just your own believe, love, and passion? Can we fight against the world alone (or with a partner)?

In reality, I don't think we can. Even though one should truly believe in his/her self, but we often don't have the strength to fight against all odds. When things get tough that we can't bear anymore, we may have given in to the "alternate" options make available to us by our opponent.

I do agree with the writer that fairytale doesn't necessary be fiction, it could happen in reality at anytime and anyplace. Any story could be a fairytale story as long as we believe so.

Pepero Day

Coming Soon: Bi-Kyo

I came across an article on Bi-Kyo while searching for MP3s :P

Rain plays lead in Pepsi-sponsored Major Drama, "The Furthest Distance"

Pepsi has invested in a KBS collaboration to build the biggest drama sensation in Asia for 2007. This serial drama is named and based on hit novel "The Furthest Distance" which was released simultaneously in 7 Asian countries. The drama starts filming in the spring of 2007 with main casts consisting of the superstars under Pepsi as well as popular artists in Korea.

Rain will lead Jay Chou, Jolin Tsai, Louis Khoo, Edison Cheng, Jerry Yan etc Pepsi Stars together with Lee Jun Ki who will lead KBS stars such as Song Hye Kyo, Hyun Bin, Kim Jeong Hoon to attend the casting audition of "The Furthest Distance" early next year. Audience response to the final cast will determine Pepsi's new generation of endorsers.

The story tells of a young lady, Jun Hee, who likes to dress herself as a boy. While secretly spying on a gang fight, she was killed when she was pierced by a unidentified object. At the same time the soul of a girl called A-Jin left her body. With the secret arrangement of a messenger from Hell, Jun Hee's soul secretly entered the body of A-Jin. This secret of exchanging souls led to another genetic-engineering plot involving several mysterious young boys. They appeared simply appeared around Jun Hee who is now occupying A-Jin's body, intertwining their fates....

Pepsi has decided to make a "concentrated" version of this drama and turn it into the Stars "Spirits" CF for year 2007.

This drama is going to be HUGE. The Pespi stars are huge already. Tagging along with Korea HOTTEST stars will be superb.

This will be one of the MUST SEE in 2007. Can't wait to see them together again.

If they could also cast ...
Won Bin, our Royal Couple - Joo Ji Hoon and Yoon Eun Hye ... then it will be perfect :P

ABK 1/4

궁(pronounce: Gung), means Palace in Korean.

Imagine being a happy-go-lucky high school student and finding out one day that your commoner grandfather and the King of the country had made a pact that you would marry the Crown Prince. This is Chae-Gyung's predicament as she is quickly thrust into a royal marriage to a complete stranger. (Oh, and did I mention that Korea is a country that doesn't even have a monarchy in the real world?). For some, it's a true alternate reality Cinderella story, but for Chae-Gyung, her Prince, named Shin, turns out to be mean and selfish with little intent of breaking up with his previous girlfriend and every intention of divorcing her in a couple years.

But the bubbly and good natured Chae-Gyung finds solace in the Crown Prince's cousin, Prince Yul. He is the true Prince Charming, a kind and understanding soul who quickly falls in love with her (his cousin-in-law). Complicating the situation is the fact that prince Yul used to be the Crown Prince and she was originally betrothed to him. And as it turns out, the parents of the Princes have a complicated past and love triangles all their own.

I love this series a lot. It reminds me of my all time favorite "Full House" & "Mentor Garden". The first half of the series is very funny, but it has a sharp turn on the second half. The chemistry between the casts are great. Of course, not to mention the beautiful costumes and settings.

Make sure you get the OST as well. The music are so touching *sniff sniff*

I'm considering this as my 2nd all-time-favorite K-Drama ever (Sorry, 1st has to goes to Full House with Rain and Song Hye Kyo). My 3rd favorite will be "My lovely Sam Soon".

50 Things YOU can learn from Korean dramas

I came across this hilaurous article the other day.

50 Things YOU can learn from Korean dramas

1) Hot, rich, younger men love fat, older vulgar women.

2) If you have a best guy friend, he is in love with you. And secretly you are too.

3) You and your boyfriend will always playfully chase each other on an ice rink, at the beach, or in the leaves. And you'll laugh for no reason and your boyfriend will hit you "playfully" but the force of his push will have you flying across the room. But it's okay. Cuz you're still laughing like a crazy person.

4) Brothers/cousin/uncles-newphews will always love the same girl.

5) You're allowed to make uturns wherever you want in Korea. And there is never traffic on the side you want to u turn to.

6) There is a super quick payment device that allows you to pay a bill quickly enough for a guy to run immediately out of a restaurant after his angry girlfriend storms out.

7) Everyone has cancer.

8) If you're sick, all you need is an IV to make you feel lots better.

9) There is vomit and urine all over Seoul at nights.

10) Fighting at a pojangmacha with a random stranger is merely part of a normal night's event.

11) Soju must cost 10 cents. Everyone drinks it everyday all the time, especially the poor people.

12) If you're rich, you're a jerk.

13) If you're poor, you're an angel.

14) Women sleep and wake up with a full set of makeup on.

15) You're not studying hard enough unless you get a nosebleed.

16) If you have a nosebleed, you most definately have cancer. And you have no money to pay for the surgery that will save your life. And your liver is missing. We're not sure where it went, but it's making your cancer progress faster.

17) If you work in a sool jeep, you have massively curly hair and wear flashy colors from the early 90's.

18) You always order orange juice or coffee at a cafe. And you never drink it. EVER.

19) You will always call your boyfriend by his job title. Or simply sunbaenim. Never his name. Never. He doesn't have one.

20) If you TRULY love each other, you must die together in the end. Frozen outside instead of finding shelter like sane people. Just frozen....

21) You go to America you come back miraculously successful. You go to England you come back amazingly fashionable. You stay in Korea the only thing that changes is your hairstyle.

22) And if you come back with no apparent reason then it's because you have cancer.

23) Everyone always goes to the same hospital no matter where they are.

24) If you stand out in the rain for more than five minutes, you'll end up with a fever and vertigo and people will rush you to the hospital to get some magic IV. And instead of taking an ambulance or driving they'll race you on their back.

25) Even if you're poor and can't eat, you never wear the same clothes twice.

26) If you play a poor kid, you always have dirt on your face and your hair is always messy.

27) If you're saving someone from being hit from a car, you'll push them out of the way and wait for the car to hit you instead.

28) Everyone has a long lost sister/brother/twin. Usually one they didn't know about.

29) If you don't want to answer your phone, you can't just turn it off. The battery
needs to be taken out.

30) All korean men can drink hard, smoke long, sing well and play piano. Usually all at the same time. And at the same restaurant that has a piano that they let anyone use.

31) If you're in a relationship, you must at one point leave and have your lover tearfully come RIGHT before you board the plane (vice versa applies as well. You can be the chaser). 60% of the time you see each other, the other 40% you're roaming around in circles and pass each other about six times, but miraculously never see them.

32) If you're getting off a plane, you're ALWAYS wearing sunglasses. ALWAYS.

33) All guys wear hideous tracksuits zipped up to their neck. Even if all they're doing is jumproping.

34) Girls will always storm off because they're mad and the guy will stoically grab them by the arm and swing them back- and by magic, not dislocate their shoulders.

35) Guys always look like they're 6 feet tall, even if they're only 5'10. Thank you camera angles.

36) Guys like to wear foundation, eyeliner and sometimes a smudge of lipliner.

37) You always get stuck in an elevator with someone who makes you feel uncomfortable. Even if there are six different elevators, you'll always be stuck in the same one with that bastard you hate (or just fought with).

38) Unless you're fabulously rich, your in-laws will always hate you

39) So will your sister-in-law.

40) Your brother-in-law might be pining away for you.

41) There are only 2 ways to kiss. You either press your lips against theirs with your mouth completely shut, and just press away for a very long and uncomfortable time. OR you devour the other person and suck out their soul. In both instances, the world spins.

42) A guy will always get the right size ring, even if you're never held hands.

43) People stare off into space and ponder a lot. They'll just stop in the middle of the road and watch a leaf on a tree for a good three minutes, and just ponder.

44) You'll get pregnant the first time you have sex.

45) You'll get pregnant if he kisses you on the forehead.

46) Hell- you'll get pregnant if you hold hands.

47) If you overcome great obstacles to be together, one of you must die. Probably due to cancer.

48) One korean man can kick the butts of 6 gangstas. Especially when they all stand in a circle and attack the guy one by one. Then when each of them get their butts OWNED, they wise up and attack the guy at the same time. Then the guy will get pulverized and bleed out onto the dusty concrete floor of the empty warehouse they've found to fight in. There will be a fire in a trashcan somewhere. And the girl will have watched this the entire time, screaming in horror. Instead of calling 119, she'll just watch and cry. But it's okay. Cuz the next day the guy will be fine with a few random bandages and a few face scars. But never a black eye.

49) It ain't a real fight unless the gangstas fight dirty with a stick or switchblade.

50) If you study in the states (perferably Harvard), you are one of the top students and can speak perfect English (as assumed by the reactions of those around you). Why the rest of the world OUTSIDE of the TV can't understand a single word uttered out of your melodramatic mouth is beyond me.

These are so true, don't you think so? ;) But I think there are couple things missing from the list:

51) Male and Female who lived together for no reason will end up falling for each other.

52) Korean girlfriends never know how to break up with their boyfriends. They just "vanish" without a word.

53) Childhood memories always involve riding a bike.

Happy Holloween

Google-Tube Rules

YouTube has been around for a while. I guess no one pays a lot of attention to the site until some hit clips has been widely distributed. This brings attention to the web giant, who has been trying to increase market into video streaming.

I have been a fans of the tube for awhile, mostly searching for overseas commercial clips that I never got a chance to see. These couple weeks, I have advance my search to TV shows related clips. I was very impressed with the result so far. Almost all of my searches result in the clips that I was looking for. What I'm praising is not their search algorithm, but rather their wide range of users who provide the clips of every aspect. Now a days, I'm trying to search for something that is NOT on Google-Tube. No luck so far. :(

In Memory of ...

My childhood buddy just informed me that her dad past away early this month. Her dad has been sick for awhile, but he was able to recover in the past. I'm glad that I was able to meet with him last time when I was in Toronto.

In Memory of Mr. Li.

Lego City Police

One of my biggest obsess this few months has been my childhood toy -- LEGO.

It all started when my friend told me that one of the Lego retail store was closing down in my area and everything was 70% off. Since I always wanted this train set, so I thought it would be a great deal if I can get it at a discounted price. One thing lead to another, I end up buying alot more and starting to get a hook into it.

One day, my friend introduced me to a Lego Police story. Long story short, I'm hooked with the cool HK police look on the cars, and the story. So .. here we are
